Under the interpretation of Natural Law, all destructive actions and moral transgressions against human sovereignty can be fundamentally understood as forms of theft. When we examine human rights and interactions through this lens, violations are not merely abstract legal infractions, but direct appropriations of an individual's inherent property, truth, and birthright. Exploring these seven forms provides a clear framework for recognizing how autonomy, safety, and freedom are compromised.
The concept posits that every human being possesses fundamental domains of ownership—beginning with their own life and body, extending to their free will, truth, personal boundaries, and material resources. When any of these domains are violated without consent, a specific form of theft occurs.
Property • Truth / Light • Birthright
The foundational pillars violated by the seven forms of theft.
Taking someone's entire existence — the ultimate theft.
Murder represents the absolute and irreversible violation of Natural Law. By stripping a person of their physical existence, the perpetrator commits the ultimate act of theft, permanently depriving the individual of every future experience, choice, and expression of their birthright.
Stealing control over someone's body and autonomy.
Bodily sovereignty is the most immediate property a human possesses. Rape and severe bodily violation constitute a direct theft of personal autonomy, overriding a person's explicit consent and forcefully imposing control over a domain that belongs exclusively to them.
Removing someone's safety, health, or ability to function.
Assault breaches the boundary of personal security and physical integrity. Whether through physical violence or severe harm, it strips an individual of their right to feel safe within their own physical environment, undermining their health and daily functioning.
Forcing compliance — stealing freedom of choice.
Coercion attacks the mind and spirit rather than just the physical body. By using threats, intimidation, or force to compel compliance, the aggressor robs the individual of their freedom of choice, turning them into an instrument of another person's will.
Lying or hiding information — stealing the ability to choose rationally.
Truth is an essential light required for navigation and sound decision-making. When someone intentionally lies, fabricates, or conceals vital information, they steal the victim's capacity to evaluate reality accurately, manipulating them into making choices they would never have made with full awareness.
Entering or using someone's space without permission — stealing their domain.
Trespassing violates personal, private, or territorial boundaries. By intruding into a space without explicit permission, the trespasser asserts unauthorized dominance over a domain rightfully managed and protected by another.
Taking objects, money, or possessions that belong to another.
This is the most widely recognized form of conventional theft. It involves the direct appropriation of earned or owned physical assets, resources, and material wealth, depriving the rightful owner of the fruits of their labor and investment.
Recognizing these seven forms allows us to see that all injustice is fundamentally a violation of sovereignty, whether over life, body, mind, truth, or property.
